Beson (Gram Flour) Ladoo is a traditional recipe. It is specially made for weddings, birthdays, and many more. In India, this recipe is very popular on Diwali 🪔.

In Pakistan people make it for Eid, Christmas ⛄ and whatever they want to celebrate 🎉 they like to eat these laddoos.

I made this recipe for my tea time. I and my family love these Ladoos. When I was a child my mother used to make these laddoos. I always used to watch her and how she makes these delicious recipes. Today I'm going to share her method which is so easy and simple. 

It is believed that an Indian physician, Susruta, used ladoos as an antiseptic to treat his surgical patients. In the 4th century BC, he used a concoction of ingredients with nutritional properties like sesame seeds, jaggery, and peanuts to make ladoos that we today fondly call til ladoo.


Rich in complex carbohydrates and with a low glycemic index, besan is good for diabetics too. Besan is high in Folate or folic acid, which is important for the rapid growth and multiplication of red blood cells and white blood cells (WBC) in the bone marrow.

So friends! Stay with me for the whole recipe. 
You will see that this recipe is so quick and easy to make. Let's get started...


Ingredients:-

Beson.   3 cups
Ghee / Desi ghee 3/4 cup
Sugar 1.5 cups
Water 1/2 cup
Cardamom Powder 1Tsp
Nuts (Optional)

Method of Boora:-

In a pan add 1 and 1/2 cups of sugar. Then add 1/2 cup of water. Please make sure the measurements should be equal. Now place the pan on medium heat and keep stirring. Cook this mixture until it dries.

 When it dries switch off the flame and let it cool down. When it gets cold then grind it and sieve it for smooth powder. We need powder without lumps for ladoos.
This method will save your ladoos for a long time at room temperature too. 



Method of Beson:-

Measure 3 cups of gram flour and sieve it properly. You have to take thin/ light flour for a good result. Add the gram flour into the deep nonstick pan. Besan should be light and well-grained. I you have 
the thin consistency of gram flour then grind it in the grinder well. It is required to take thick besan for the ladoos.


Switch on the flame and place the pan on it and add ghee about 3/4 cup. I have taken desi ghee which is pure and delicious. If you have butter, I prefer it should be unsalted. But mostly they are just made with the ghee. 


Roast the flour on medium-low heat. Until a nice aroma, you feel and the color of the flour will be changed. In the main while if you feel the flour is dry then add 1 spoon of ghee or more. But be careful don't add too much. Otherwise, this mixture will be sticky. Ladoos will not be well prepared. 

You will see the color will be changed. Sprinkle a few drops of water and mix well. You will see gram flour will be grainy in texture.

 Now switch off the flame. Then sprinkle cardamom Powder for about 1tsp.  If you like to add nuts then you can add peanuts 🥜  almonds, coconut 🥥 slices, or much more. 😊


Presentation of Ladoos:-

Now add boora / sugar into the gram flour and mix well. Now make balls whatever size you like to make. And make them by pressing them forcely. 



Make all the ladoos and place them on the tray or plate. Garnish them with nuts or sprinkles as I did and serve them with tea.
