The first coffee cakes are thought to have originated in Germany. These were more like sweet breads than cakes. According to the book Listening to America, Stuart Berg Flexner, it wasn't until 1879 that the term “coffee cake” became a common term.
So USA coffee cake is a traditional sweet pound cake layered with a brown sugar, cinnamon, and pecan-laced streusel. The reason this beauty is called coffee cake is because it's the perfect complement to a cup of coffee or a foamy latte not because it has coffee in it.
But it's not just that coffee cake sounds like it's flavored with coffee. It's that coffee cake actually should be flavored with coffee. After all, the rich, deep flavor of coffee goes with so many other ingredients that are right at home in coffee cake, like sweet spices and rich chocolate flavor.
Ingredients:- All purpose flour 1 cup (100 grams) Instant Coffee 4 Tbsp Fresh Warm Milk 5 Tbsp Egg Whites 5 Egg Yolks 5 Vanilla Essence 1 Tsp Oli 1/4 cup ( 5 Tbsp) Sugar 1 cup (100 grams) Bake the cake in preheated oven on 140 C for 60 minutes. Last 10 minutes increase the temperature on 150 C. Ingredients for Butter Cream Unsalted Butter 1 cup 2 Tbsp Coffee 4 Tbsp Milk 2 Tbsp Icing Sugar 1 Cup
